Customer Reviews

My husband and I have been missing that southern taste nice we moved away from Charleston, SC. We found it at Babz. The fried green tomatoes are perfectly crunchy and tangy, the pimento cheese wontons are crispy and delicate and every little detail has been thought of in these comforting, flavorful meals. The building is beautiful and the service was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The outdoor dining is dog friendly and both of my pups had a wonderful time.

What an incredible place! Was in town (over in Old Washington) got the frontier festival and drove into downtown Maysville for dinner. After looking at the menu and reviews, we were sold on Babz and not at all disappointed. We both had rice bowls, hubs had pork, I had salmon. They were great. A lot of rice so I might do the lettuce or mix next time. We each had a pint of the oatmeal stout. Yum! I had a cup of vegetable soup (exactly what I needed) and the cornbread (thank God it wasn't sweet!) is delicious. Then we still made room for dessert. Bread pudding and apple transparent pie. OMG. This place is just loaded with atmoshere and the staff were so very nice. It's beautiful. Right on the corner of beautiful Maysville. Go!!

Wow what an unexpected amazing lunch. The bowls are huge and the flavor profile is extremely unique. The sandwiches also look great but I'd get a bowl your first time in. Everything is super high quality. The restaurant has great open air seating which will be amazing the further we get into fall.

I love Maysville and how many unique, independent eateries that are available. I have a few favorites and tend to go there each time I'm in town, but the husband wanted to try something different this past Saturday. I did what any lover of good food does, and ask the amazing bartender at Kenton's Stories and Spirits which of the two restaurants I had narrowed it down to that we should visit. Of those two options she overwhelmingly suggested Babz Bistro. I was very familiar with this restaurant because I've been munching on the pimento cheese from there for the last 8 months as I planned my wedding from the booth in the bookstore/bar. I had also reached out to the owner of the restaurant about doing catering for the wedding. While she was unavailable for that job, she was so nice and even recommended other places to try. when the brick and mortar store opened in July it was just ahead of my planned wedding. my family and wedding party who were in town for the weekend raved about how good it was. it wasn't until early October that my husband and I were able to visit. I have added this place as another favorite in town. I've read their menu for at least a year but wasn't certain I would like the flavors she uses. T o the surprise and laughter of the front of house staff, we ordered several things on the menu because we wanted to sample as much as we could. I could tell you how delicious each dish was at the time but the biggest compliment I can give is that the leftovers the next day were still delicious! there isn't a large drink menu, it's self serve water, tea (sweetened and unsweet) and a limited selection of canned beers. initially that wasn't appealing to me but I think a soda would have pulled away from the flavors of the food. Trust me when I say you don't want anything to mess with your palate when you're eating here. let your taste buds enjoy every moment! The only weird thing was I couldn't find the bathroom. if it hadn't been so busy I would have asked if that person but on a Saturday when there was a festival going on two blocks away and the Maysville players were having an incredible show at the Washington Opera house, this place was booming. I'm really looking forward to going back.

Pleasantly surprised. I was hesitant after looking at the menu since I'm not really a fan of pork or fish. We ended up getting the roasted butternut squash soup with cornbread and the Sammy Special with turkey & cucumbers. It. Was. So. Good. I would definitely give this place another visit and try the bowls - even with pork and smoked salmon.

I was visiting friends that live in the area and they recommended the new Babz Bistro. It was excellent. The bistro itself is pretty with tall ceilings, tables and booths, and a view inside the kitchen. The staff was helpful when asked questions about the menu. I ordered the 3rd Street Special Bowl. The presentation was beautiful and the flavors even better. Every bite tasted fresh, and sweet with a heated tang. The wontons were gluten free and beyond our expectations in texture and taste. I will be eating here again on another trip.
